The food waste reduction activity of “Food wise Hong Kong” campaign jointly organized by the Greeners Action and the EPD and Wan Chai district council has been extended to the Wan Chai district in Hong Kong Island. 5 large shopping malls in Causeway Bay cooperated with over 180 caterings supporting the activity. Opening ceremony was held on 17th July, 2014 in Hysan Place in which, creative dancing and the “Big waster” of “Food Wise Hong Kong” promoted the “Price for completed dishes” activity, also participating shopping malls and caterings’ representative shared their thoughts of waste reduction. Lasting for half a year, the activity aims to promote food wise culture in community, bring related message to citizens and visitors from other places, hoping reducing food waste from every sector.

The Causeway Bay’s 5 shopping malls, including Hysan Place, Time Square, Fashion Walk, Royal Fort and World Trade Center, for the first time, cooperated to promote green in this activity. Supported by Café de Coral, Maxim’s Caterers Limited, Tsui Wah restaurant and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and over 180 caterings, the “Price for completed dishes” programme was organized to encourage citizen to participate to reduce food waste. Being the organizers, 15 caterings in Hysan Place took part in food waste separation and collection at source. They are Holly Brown、Shelter Italian Bar & Restaurant、The Herbivores、Agetate Kibun、PEPPER LUNCH、Ramen Ganpachi、Chilli N Spice、Izumi Curry、Honeymoon Dessert、BB1 Vietnamese Bistro、Eight Grand、Ho Hung Kee (1946)、Moments、 Bo-Lo’GNE Café、WIRED CAFÉ. Different type of food waste is collected in kitchens and Plaza’s designated point, later they are sent to the Kowloon Bay Pilot Compost Plant for transition to fertilizer products.
