Greeners Action’s suggestion to the Document for Engaging Stakeholders and the Public from the Task Force on External Lighting
This August, The Environment Bureau has announced the consultation documents on the research results and suggestion from Task Force on External Lighting “Stakeholders and the Public Engagement Exercise”.
Greeners Action is always focusing on th eenvironmental problems in the community. We observe that behind the bright and beautiful night views of Hong Kong, there is a serious light pollution problem which lead to nuisance to the public. At the same time, the high intensity of light also lead to waste of energy. Responding to the research results and suggestion, we suggest to legislate the regulation on outdoor lighting devices. The first priority is to schedule a timetable and develop corresponding ordinance and regulation so as to resolve the light pollution in Hong Kong.
Greeners Action has raised and submitted relative suggestions towards the consultation documents on the meeting with the Panel on Environmental Affairs.
The deadline for public consultation to the document consultation is 18th November. Citizens may express their views by email(hollyip@hkpc.org), fax(3187 4534) or by mail (Environmental Management Division, 3/F, HKPC Building, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon, Hong Kong).
