 The government have be neglecting the safety of swimming citizens, insisting to implement the construction of artificial beach in Lung Mei even though it will destroy local ecosystem seriously. The construction will destroy the habitat of 314 species of intertidal animals, including a vulnerable seahorse species - the spotted seahorse(Hippocampus kuda). With the intention to protecting the natural mudflats in Lung Mei and local ecosystem, Greeners Action, HK Wildlife Forum and cross-boundaries groups co-found the ‘Save Lung Mei Alliance’ and wrote a letter to CY Leung, the Chief Executive, demanding to revoke or cancel the Environment Permit on the construction of artificial beach in Lung Mei. The Alliance is also planning to propose judicial review on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies.

In order to respond to the ‘Save Lung Mei Movement’, from 30th October to 4th November, Greeners Action launched a Signature Campaign to collect citizens’ signature from whom are against the project of building artificial beach in Lung Mei. It is expected to collects 5000 signatures from the citizens in Tai Po District. Following is the details of the ‘Save Lung Mei Signature Campaign’:
