The government has launched the third phase of consultation of the North East New Territories New Development Areas Planning and Engineering Study since the mid-June. Various environmental groups and agricultural concern groups presented a petition today, expressing their disagreement on the government’s ignorance to the local demand of agricultural lands and also, asking for reserving lands for agricultural use. Until now, there is still lack of large-scaled public consultation session to collect public views. It is deemed as a regression of public engagement in the society.
