It is excited that many volenteers are passionate to gather in different piers to ready to go to different bays and beaches to clean up the pallets. Although the original ferries towards Cheung Chau were all full, we were lucky to have the additional sailing from the ferry company.

Last Sunday, Greeners Action originally had planned to clean the pallets in Chi Ma Wan but as we had realised that the pollution there was not too severe, we decided to change the location to Bay Wave Bay in the Lantau Island.

As there is not direct ferry to Big Wave Bay, it is more difficult for the general public to arrive. Only a few athletes were seen on the beach that day. It can be seen clearly that the beach is widely covered by the plastic pallets. After our volunteers had settled down, they started to clean up the pallets in groups. They did not only pick up the pallets piece by piece but also clean up the rubbish found on the beach. It was ashamed that there were bags of left rubbish next to the rubbish bins. The pallets collected will be further cleaned up and delivered to Shingha Theatre for education purpose, educating the audience the impact of pallets to the environment.

In order to encourage citizens to go to Big Wave Bay by themselves, we suggest to take ferry to Cheung Chau at Pier No.5 in Central first. Then, take the boat towards Big Wave Bay at the yacht habour. It is more convenient to make a reservation before. Remember that the Big Wave Bay is located at the Chi Ma Wan but not at Shek Pik. If you need to use the washroom, take a 5-10 minute walk to the public washroom next to the office of the Big Wave village. Finally, we sincerely appreciate all the volunteers who left aside tools for cleaning the pallets and some foods and drinks for us.
