Food Waste Reduction

The EPD organized the sharing seminar for industrial and commercial sector on food waste recycling jointly with the Greeners Action in Causeway Bay Central library, letting sectors to share their experience in exploring ways of food waste reduction and source separation, also learning different food waste recycling facilities. 200 participants came from different industrial and commercial sectors, including properties management companies, hotels and institutions and civil parties.
The Peninsula Hong Kong, APM shopping mall and Lucky market representatives were in the seminar, they shared the benefits to the environment, difficulties and improvement ways for implementing food waste source separation.
Also, the organizer shared the “Environmental and Conservation Fund” and early-staged outcome of “Food waste recycling project in estate”. Hong Kong Productivity Council representative shared in the seminar their experience in providing technical support, while the Leisure and Culture Services Department and Housing Authority representatives shared experiences in handling food waste machine. Those deepen other companies and parties knowledge of practical ways of solving food waste problem.
