There are only 16 days to go for the implementation of plastic bag levy scheme on 07th July, 2009. The Greeners Action together with the Link property management limited today pushed ahead a unique service in Hong Kong, which is to provide rent service of umbrella bag. The campaign, gaining full support of 33 shopping malls under Link estate property management limited, aims at encouraging citizen to develop habit of reducing using plastic bags by bringing their own one. The opening ceremony of the campaign started today (21st June, 2009) in Wong Tai Sin Lung Cheung mall, during which Political assistant of Secretary for the Environment Ms. Linda CHOI, representative of the Greeners Action Ms Karen Hung and senior manager of the Link estate property management Mr. Leung, together held the opening ceremony and signed on the Eco-bag to show their support to the scheme. After the ceremony, guests paraded in the shopping malls along with Eco-bag-made cuddle dragon to present new ways of reducing use of plastic bags.

Totally preparing 4,500 Eco-bag that are 100% cotton-made, bleach-free and bio-degradable. Pictures about theme of clothing, eating, living and commuting are printed on Eco-bags, in hope of reminding people of the wide application of Eco-bag. From 21st June, 2009 to 28th February, 2010, customers could go to designated shopping malls under the Link estate property management to take rent Eco-bag with fee of 10 dollars. Upon returning, deposit will be fully returned. The untaken deposit would be fully donated to the Greeners Action and the Environment and Nature Fund for supporting green work.
