Consumer culture has improved the quality of life for urban dwellers, but issues like excessive packaging have placed a significant burden on landfills. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the use of disposable takeaway boxes and utensils has led to a drastic increase in waste. Local
environmental groups and social enterprises have been working together to promote deep sustainable consumption.

The first local "Bring Your Own Container Market" known as the "Zero Packaging Fiesta" was organized by the environmental organization Greeners Action and co-organized by the sustainable consumption curation platform My Fair Lady. The event took place at the Mills for two consecutive days from October 15th to 16th, 2022. It brought together over 30 "naked shopping" stalls and over a hundred local sustainable brands, offering a wide range of products such as locally produced food, daily necessities, organic crops, by-products, animal-friendly skincare and cosmetics, and upcycled fashion.

Citizens were encouraged to bring their own containers to the event, allowing them to purchase their preferred products, customize combinations, or buy quantities suitable for their family size. This approach ensured the freshness of their purchases without the need to accumulate excessively packaged products, providing them with the benefits and joy of "naked shopping"

The opening ceremony on October 15th, 2022, featured prominent actor and host Mr. Joey Leung and the founder and CEO of the Hong Kong Social Ventures Fund and Bottless, Mr. Francis Ngai, as the guest of honor. The event also included performances by celebrity guests such as the renowned band Mr. Tom To's music school "MyRhythmJourney" who performed live with their young drummers, Van Chan, the lead singer of the band Nowhere Boys, Kit Cheung, the Hong Kong version of Adele, and plus-size model Chen Yingtong, who gained recognition through the talent show "Extra Beauty". Furthermore, there were lectures, including one by the mountain-loving host Melody Cheng, who shared her experiences and anecdotes about everyday "naked shopping".

Besides the market, attendees who brought their own containers enjoyed complimentary popcorn. The event featured various performances and workshops, creating a pleasant atmosphere and encouraging participants to bring their own shopping containers, dispelling misconceptions about "naked shopping" and taking the first step towards plastic-free consumption. Through these efforts, the event aimed to promote sustainable consumption habits in the local sustainable city, enhancing both the living environment and the quality of consumption for citizens.
