Greeners Fusion

 Greeners Action conducted 324 activities in the "Sai Kung Save Our Shorelines Ambassador Scheme", cleaning up nearly 4,900 kilograms of garbage at 12 beaches in Sai Kung District. The project includes several parts, including shorelines cleanup, marine debris surveying and public education activities.

Shorelines cleanup
A total of 158 shorelines cleanup activities were carried out. 5 ambassadors of Greeners Action to carry out cleaning service for 4 hours each session. Greeners Action has successfully cleaned up 4,865 kilograms of marine debris during the half-year project period and reduced the burden on the ocean.

Surveying of Marine Debris
A total of 72 marine debris surveying sessions were conducted. Greeners Action collected garbage on the beach in each survey, and then catagorized the garbage into different groups and measured the quantity and weight of each type of garbage. The data was gathered into a database to analyze the proportion of litter types and distribution on each beach.

Public education activities
We have conducted 94 public education activities, including street booths and guided tours on shoreline cleanup. Greeners Action launched street booths at Sai Kung Bus Terminal and Kiu Tsui, to reach out to the public and promote the importance of plastic reduction and protection of the coast. For guided cleaning tours, 19 guided shorelines cleanup tours were organized at Hoi Ha and Sha Ha to conduct shorelines cleanup. Cleaning activities not only let the public experience the impact of garbage on the coastal ecology, but also allowed the public to learn to appreciate and cherish Hong Kong's natural environment.
