Waste Reduction and Recycling Works

 Greeners Action operated the recycling store “GREEN@CHEUNG SHA WAN” from December 2020 to March 2023, under the Environmental Protection Department’s community recycling network of “GREEN@COMMUNITY”. GREEN@CHEUNG SHA WAN accepted at least 8 common types of recyclables, including paper, metals, plastics, glass bottles, regulated electrical equipment, small electrical appliances, fluorescent lamps and tubes, rechargeable batteries, tetra pak, and toner cartridges. The recyclables collected would be sorted and then delivered to the downstream recyclers for subsequent processing.

To encourage the public to gradually integrate the practice of recycling into daily life, the public can earn GREEN$ for the redemption of gift items, including daily necessitates and groceries, by subsequent submission of recyclables.

To tie in with EPD’s one-stop reliable recycling service “GREEN COLLECT”, GREEN@CHEUNG SHA WAN provided recyclable collection services for more than 40 housing estates in Sham Shui Po District, to further facilitate residents in practicing resource recovery. In addition, GREEN@CHEUNG SHA WAN set up recycling spots near the single block and 3-nil residential building, where waste separation facilities are limited, to facilitate the residents to participate in recycling, and to achieve "Save More, Recycle More".
