Zero Packaging Fiesta | Bring Your Own Container Market in Hong Kong, landing at Yau
Man Square, Kwun Tong on October 7th-8th for two consecutive days!
In today's consumer-driven society, products are often heavily packaged to enhance customer appeal and increase consumption. However, this has led to excessive packaging and overconsumption, burdening landfills. "Naked shoppin" is a trendy movement that promotes environmental sustainability by offering package-free goods and allowing customers to use their reusable containers.
Greeners Action has been actively promoting sustainable consumption. They will be organizing the second edition of the"Zero Packaging Fiesta"; at Yau Man Square in Kwun Tong for two consecutive days on October 7th and 8th, 2023. The event aims to gather nearly 40 "naked shopping" stalls and over a hundred local sustainable brands, offering a diverse range of products such as locally produced food, daily necessities, organic crops and by-products, animal-friendly skincare and cosmetics, and upcycled fashion.
To participate, citizens simply need to bring their own containers to the event. This allows them to purchase their preferred products, customize combinations, or buy quantities that suit their family's needs. The approach ensures fresh purchases without the need to accumulate excessively packaged items, giving participants the opportunity to experience the advantages and satisfaction of "naked shopping"
One of the highlight is any attendees who bring their own containers and complete a mission will receive complimentary popcorn or candy. The event will also feature forum, environmental education exhibitions, and eco-friendly workshops to foster a pleasant atmosphere and encourage individuals to embrace plastic-free "aked shopping". The activities aim to dispel misconceptions and promote the use of personal shopping containers when purchasing eco- friendly products. Together, these efforts will further promote sustainable consumption habits,
enhance the environment, and improve the quality of life in our sustainable city.
