According to the "Hong Kong Solid Waste Monitoring Report 2023," residents of Hong Kong discard 2,120 tons of waste plastic daily, making it the third-largest category of waste (19.5%), following food waste and paper. In recent years, the Environmental Protection Department has actively promoted the reduction of packaging use. "Packaging Reduction Charter," launched in March 2025, has received commitments from 102 local and multinational companies.

Organized by Greeners Action and primarily sponsored by Chinachem Group, the Zero Packaging Fiesta was held at D Park in Tsuen Wan. The event, themed "Zero Waste Lifestyle," has garnered support from approximately 50 partners, including market vendors’ owners, performers, and workshop organizations. Aiming to promote the culture of bulk purchasing to the public through a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The fiesta takes place on October 29th and 30th (Wednesday and Thursday), featuring market stalls with local groceries, agricultural products, personal care items, cleaning supplies, clothing, lifestyle products, and sports equipment. Citizens only need to bring their own containers to purchase the desired products on-site, allowing them to mix and match or buy the appropriate quantity based on their needs.

This year's Zero Packing Fiesta is packed with exciting content. In addition to the bulk-buying market, the first day will feature several engaging performances, including eco-friendly instruments and handflute performances. There will also be environmental education exhibitions guiding participants on a "Naked Shopping Adventure Tour." Furthermore, the fiesta offers FREE popcorn and marshmallow. Participants who bring their own containers and complete simple tasks can receive these treats for FREE, experiencing the benefits of zero waste. The first day attendance figures reached a record high of 8,000 people
