Waste Reduction and Recycling Works

Every year, more than 100,000 tons of glass bottle are discarded into landfills in Hong Kong, in which only 1% of them are recycled. In order to encourage the public to support glass recycling and focus on health diet, Greeners Action together with Lee Kam Kee (Hong Kong) Food Limited and Link Asset Management Limited co-organized ‘Exchange soy sauce for a heathier life’, hoping to remind public the importance of healthy diet, while cultivate the public recycle habit, and support recycling. In order to wisely use the resources, avoiding useful material being discard into landfills. All these used glass bottles will be recycled into useful environmentally friendly bricks after the events.
Since the Reborn Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program received positive response from the public, Greeners Action worked together with The Link and Lee Kam Kee to co-organized an event call ‘exchange soy sauce for a heathier life’. The event will be hold from 13th May to 3rdJune (Every Saturday or Sunday), in 10 shopping malls of The Link, the public can bring their own used soy sauce glass bottle to specified recycle booths and receive one bottle of premium soy sauce 500ml in exchange. Nevertheless, Hau Tak Shopping Centre, Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre, Cheung Fat Plaza and Lei Yue Mun Plaza also organized few special stage programs include: healthy soy sauce information sharing session, chef cooking demonstration, parent child cooking contents and environmental talk are also provided to the public. At the same time, information about glass bottle recycle and gaming booth are provided in order for the public to have a better understanding of waste separation and the idea of recycle and reuse.
