“Collection of newspaper plastic bag” parade in 18 districts
The Greeners Action, in January of this year, through delivering green stickers and related tools to 1500 newsstands and bookstores, calling on them and reminding newspaper buyers not to use plastic bag for newspaper for the coming one year. Furthermore, recycling campaign of plastic bag was raised in every Sunday, there were recycling stations located in newsstands and Chinese restaurants in 18 districts, for providing the recycling service as well as appealing people to adopt green habit of not using plastic bag for newspaper as it was in the past 10 years. Also, green ambassador Mr. Louis Cheung Kai Chung and promotion vehicle were around the streets to remind people about the green message. Until today, there are already 8 times of promotions, with districts including Mongkok, Hung Hum, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O. Totally there were 500 newspaper plastic bags collected, which would be returned to newsstands for reuse. It was observed that generally, people would follow what we promoted, but 20% of people still turned a deaf ear to us.
