Press Conference for Medicine Collection Program
Greeners Action cooperated with Kai Shing Management Services Limited to carry out the Medicine Collection Program from June to November, 2025. A total of two public collection points at Metroplaza and Kowloon Commerce Centre, and four residential collection points at Grand Horizon, Mayfair Gardens, Mount Haven and Park Island. Over the six-month period, we collected more than 150 kg of medicine, equivalent to over 300,000 pills. The results exceeded expectations and reflected the public’s strong demand for long-term collection.
In addition, since April, 2025, we have conducted an online survey to understand the public’s awareness of medicine disposal and their willingness to participate in Medicine Collection Program. The results reflected that most citizens are unaware of the adverse impacts on the natural environment and ecosystems caused by improper disposal of surplus medicine to toilets or rubbish bins. We recommend that the government strengthen education and publicity so that the public can understand more on this issue, thereby reducing the impact on the environment.
