This year is the 6th consecutive year of Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program. In the past 5 years, 5.49 million of Lai See has been recycled and saved 280 trees. This year, 51 companies has supported and joined the event, with number of collection point raised to 500 locations and retail stores joined for the first time. As a result, it is expected to be more convenient for citizen to recycle their Lai See, with 3 million of Lai See will be expected to be recycled and reused. The aim of the program is to encourage corporate to reduce printing and distribution at source., adopt simple design; encourage public to avoid abuse of new Lai See and establish habit of recycle Lai See and reuse “Reborn Lai See”. Greeners Action is launching Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program kick off ceremony and invited Mr. Lam Chiu-ying, Chairman of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee as our officiating guest, together with all the business representatives who participated in the the program for launching the program.

Greeners Action launched the kick off ceremony in Lok Fu place, to announce this year collection date and points, and expected number of recyclable Lai See. This year, 51 companies and organizations have joined, with 3% increase compared to last year. The new 110 collection points include The Hong Kong Jockey Club Off-course Betting Branch and Sasa Cosmetics retail stores, therefore more convenient for citizens to participate. From today (eighth day of first month in Lunar calendar) to March 11, there will be 500 shopping mall, Hong Kong Jockey Club, personal care store, housing estates, banks and hotels will set up Lai See collection box all over the entire Hong Kong, with the idea of ‘’there is always a collection box nearby’’ to allow the public to recycle used Lai See. It is expected the number of collected Lai See will exceed 3 million this year.
