Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program

 The Chinese New Year is coming, as a result, Chinese traditional concept have prompted Hong Kong citizen to use 180 million new Lai See, equivalent to 9,253 trees. After receiving, majority of citizen will directly discard the empty Lai See, which is against the idea of environmental protection. In order to encourage citizens to recycle their used Lai See, Greeners Action has held the ‘Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program’ for the past two consecutive years, and receive great support from the citizen. Total of 270,000 of used Lai See have been collected and processed, so that the citizen can use reborn Lai See for this year. Greeners Action will distribute reborn Lai See in Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories this week (15th January).

In order to citizen to establish an environmentally friendly New Year traditional habit, Greeners Action has reserved 50,000 reborn Lai See, in 5 Community Recycle Fun Shop for free distribution. The detail is listed as below:

Greeners Action continue to run ‘Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program 2012’, and openly invite major shopping centre and estate to participate. Based on last year successful experience, many enterprise, school and clubhouse already show support and willing to participate. In addition to hoping citizen will recycle their used Lai See, Greeners Action also hope to cultivate the public habit of using reborn Lai See, with an expectation of Lai See being reused for 3 years or more and reduce waste.
