Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program

Greeners Council announced today the detail of program in Lung Cheung Plaza. From February 12th (10th of the lunar calendar) to February 22nd, 50 shopping centres under Link RETK (See table 1 in the press release) already set up collection box, to encourage the public to recycle used Lai See. In the second year of the event, apart from collection box from shopping malls, more than 10 organizations have show interest or participate in the program, include different estate, school, clubhouse and shopping malls, in which Agile Group Holding Limited is participating the program for the first year. In addition of collection points in property management centres of more than 20 communities in Zhongshan, Foshan, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. From east to Shanghai, south to Hainan, west to Chengdu and north to Shenyang, over 10,000 colleagues and 280,000 residents will participate in the program, to set up a various of collection points in Hong Kong, Foshan and Guangzhou, to collect public and colleague used Lai See. The result is widely accepted by the public and Greeners Action is excited and expect to collected over 200,000 compare to last year, and hope to launch Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program, with the support of more enterprises and organizations, to help citizen to establish a more sustainable New Year Tradition and use reborn Lai See. Accepting reborn Lai See is like the concept of ‘good-as-new notes’, after four consecutive years of appeal from the HKAA, the public has gradually accept the use of old banknotes.
