“Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program 2017” Meeting to Reporters
The Lunar New Year is upcoming, people are busy with it, one of the traditions is delivering red pockets. In recent years, idea of having a green Lunar New Year is growing. The Greeners Action has been consecutively organizing “Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program” for 8 years. Number of recycled red pocket increased from the earliest 120 thousand to this year 8.8 million, cumulatively collecting over 20 million and later turning into 10 million renewed red pockets. It shows the concept of recycling has been instilled in the community. The collected red pockets will be treated in screening work site through community organizations to become renewed one, over 4 million of them will be distributed starting tomorrow (11th Jan, 2017 to 27th Jan, 2017) in around 270 points in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories for free.
